The Park has been accredited by Arb Net Arboretum Accreditation Program and The Morton Arboretum, for achieving standards of professional practices deemed important for arboreta and botanic gardens. ArbNet is the only global initiative to officially recognize arboreta.
All but two trees native to the Piedmont region of Georgia are represented at the Park. (Two only want to live in the mountains)
This keystone Quercus genus is represented by 14 different species within the Park. Quercus support the largest number of other living species of any trees.
This small grove of trees in the back pasture represent the forests of Long Leaf that once covered much of the state.

At McFarlane, our mission is to provide access to nature for our community. Part of that mission is to focus on Piedmont-native plants and trees to support the environment and introduce visitors to native options.

Our nature programs include visits from our county arborist who provides a Walk N Talk, the Bluebird man, and the head of the Great SE Pollinator Census.

Volunteers provide many services to the Park.
A team of Master Gardeners welcome other gardeners on Tuesday mornings to plant and maintain the native plant gardens. Local church members, on their Great Day of Service, mulch the many trails.
